Sliced Mango Collective group members were surprised to hear that any development was happening at Joyce-Collingwood. Most of us have grown up as patrons of the companies impacted by the rezoning plan and a few of us have lived in the Joyce-Collingwood neighbourhood. We have been disenchanted and dismayed to be taught of this growth plan and wished we had identified sooner in order that we might have taken action sooner. In Metro Vancouver, specifically, there isn’t a centralized neighbourhood for Filipino-Canadians. Instead, we now have pockets of our group dispersed in different neighborhoods throughout Metro Vancouver; Joyce-Collingwood is considered one of them. Sliced Mango Collective is organizing in response to the J+S Architect’s rezoning utility at Joyce Street.
